Tree of Names, from a Different Branch

Tree trunks of inter
twining names and
hearts grown into
elephant skin bark
reminded me that
this is the time
of year when we
hurtle to the
end but tingle with
beginnings, when we
rejoice at
grass and daffodils
become luminescent
after dark.
